Getting a BBA in Barcelona: Marcel’s experience at EU Business School

EU Business School (EU) has been educating future entrepreneurs and business leaders since 1973. It is a high-ranking, international business school that offers foundation, bachelor’s, master’s and MBA programs, all taught in English, at campuses in Barcelona, Geneva, Munich and online.

Find out why EU Business School students stand out from alumnus Marcel Henle (Bachelor of Business Management and Finance, 2022), who studied at the Barcelona campus and is now a marketing manager at Steel Force Namibia.

Why did you decide to study your bachelor’s program abroad?

I decided to study my bachelor’s program abroad so that I could be around different cultures and experience life and diversity to the fullest – as well as studying to obtain a good degree.

Getting to know people from all over the world taught me to think about different perspectives.

What was the most memorable factor of your bachelor’s program in Barcelona?

The most memorable factor was getting to know people from all over the world and learning about their cultures, which taught me to think about different perspectives and how to see things differently. I believe professional opportunities in my career opened up because I learned to think with a different mindset.

Did you have opportunities for real-world business experience during the program? Can you provide some examples?

At EU, they emphasize experiential learning, so students get a real sense of how business works through case studies, company visits, etc. Also, it’s really helpful that the lecturers are also business professionals, so can give you their perspective on how classroom theory works in practice. We also got some amazing guest speakers to talk to us, including the former CEOs of Nestlé and Unilever, and the co-founder of Starbucks. Also, I was able to work at the leading steel distributor in Namibia before, during, and after my studies. The real-world experience helped me a lot with my studies and vice versa.

How did the EU experience help you to succeed in your professional life?

The EU experience taught me key management and leadership techniques, and, just as importantly, gave me the agile, creative mindset that you need to succeed in today’s fast-moving business world. Also, the multicultural community helped me to understand different cultures, and to encourage diversity and growth. The BA program and EU experience taught me all the necessary hard and soft skills to begin my professional journey with confidence.

Would you like to share any advice for young people who choose to study abroad?

Be open-minded and allow yourself to grow and change during this experience, make lots of friends and learn as much as possible. Nothing worth having comes easy, so work hard and stay dedicated.
