Description:

The Psychology concentration offers an in-depth exploration into human behavior and the mind, combining theoretical learning with practical applications in psychology. Graduates receive a globally recognized degree, accredited in the US and EU, and earn it in three years instead of four.

About the program:

The Psychology concentration will develop students’ understanding of human behavior, how the mind works, how we perceive and understand experience, and how to achieve mental wellbeing.

Building on the general education and major courses found in the Humanities, Society and Culture (HSC) BA program, the Psychology Concentration provides a comprehensive introduction to psychological principles, methods, and techniques. The core areas of psychology–developmental, social, cognitive, moral, and evolutionary–are covered, along with the psychology of emotions and motivation, interpersonal relations, and the subconscious.

The concentration will also enhance skills in critical reasoning, theoretical and empirical research, analysis, reflection, communication, cooperation, and problem solving, along with ethical awareness and the competencies essential for further study and training in the field of psychology.

The Psychology concentration consists of modules with required and optional courses that give students the freedom to explore what psychology is and what it means to them, while choosing courses that dovetail with their career and personal aspirations.

Learning Outcomes:

Graduates of the B.A. in Humanities, Society and Culture: Psychology can expect to:

  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of the psychological theories, methods, as well as concepts across the fields of art, literature, film, philosophy, religion, history, politics, sociology, and anthropology
  • Employ appropriate quantitative and qualitative research methods, concepts and theories
  • Address and solve moderately complex theoretical and practical issues and problems in changing contexts
  • Effectively communicate issues, problems, or dilemmas and their solutions
  • Take effective and responsible action both individually and within a team
  • Take into consideration diverse and changing socio-cultural contexts

Career Prospects:

Upon graduation, students will have the knowledge, competence, and skills to confidently enter the workforce in a wide range of psychology-related fields including:

  • counseling
  • education
  • publishing
  • social care
  • civil service
  • human resources
  • public relations
  • management
  • marketing
  • academia

In addition, the Psychology concentration serves as a springboard for postgraduate study and further professional development to enter a career in a specific area of psychology or psychotherapy.

It develops the competencies necessary for qualification in any number of fields, for example: lifespan psychology, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, clinical psychology, sport and occupational psychology, political and cross-cultural psychology, philosophy of the mind, and artificial intelligence.
