Description:

The BA in Psychology equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and experience to work effectively in various fields relating to people and psychological counseling, with a focus on mental health, personal development and well-being.

The program adheres to the standards of the European Certificate in Psychology (EuroPsy), a recognized European benchmark of education, professional training, and competence as set by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations.

It offers hands-on, experiential instruction that hones a unique skill set—combining theory with practical application. Coursework emphasizes key areas such as mental health and well-being, communication, personality development, and psychosocial intervention.

This Psychology program is an excellent choice for those aiming to become practicing psychologists, as well as professionals who wish to integrate psychological insights into careers in human resources, education, social services, marketing, or beyond. It also lays a strong foundation for pursuing advanced Master’s level studies in psychology and related fields.

Program Structure:

To graduate from the BA in Psychology program, a student must accumulate 90 US/180 ECTS credits over the course of three years, with studies culminating in an oral thesis defense and oral state examination. For the student’s first year of studies, they can opt to enroll in courses taught in either Czech or English, offering flexibility and language options to suit their preferences.

The student may choose from the following study plans:

  1. Major: comprises courses within general education, major, program elective, and open elective modules
  2. Minor: comprises courses within general education, major, and program elective modules, along with core courses from another degree program
  3. Complementary minor: offered to students of other degree programs and includes selected major courses from the Psychology curriculum

Learning Outcomes:

Graduates of the BA in Psychology are be able to:

  1. Demonstrate familiarity with core areas of psychology such as perception, cognition, memory, motivation, emotion, language, and consciousness, and understand how these processes develop and change throughout the human lifespan.
  2. Understand and apply fundamental principles and methods of psychological assessment and essential interviewing techniques in various contexts (e.g., counseling, diagnosis, recruitment, research).
  3. Apply ethical principles and professional codes of conduct in psychological research and practice.
  4. Explain and employ fundamental research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative, to analyze data and address psychological questions.
  5. Understand foundational concepts in industrial and organizational psychology, including organizational culture, work behavior, and factors influencing employee well-being and performance.

Career Prospects:

Graduates of the Psychology program are equipped with a solid foundation in psychological theories, research methods, and practical skills applicable to a variety of employment settings. The main areas of employment are in psychological counseling with a focus on personal development, well-being and mental health. They may be employed as assistants in psychological departments, assisting psychologists, for example, with psychodiagnostics.

There are also opportunities in human resources, where they may be involved in recruitment, staff training and organizational development initiatives in a corporate environment. Graduates may also work as research assistants, participating in psychological or social science studies in academic or private research settings. In the field of social and community services, graduates may provide support in mental health, addiction, or youth programs, for example, through non-profit organizations.

Other possible career paths include advertising and marketing psychology, such as conducting market research where they can apply psychological principles to understand consumer behavior.
