The one-year Master of Arts in Economics, Data, and Policy program provides students with the skills required of a 21st-century economist.
We offer two specialization tracks within the one-year program to prepare you for the next step of your professional or academic journey. With the Research track, you will build a solid analytical foundation in microeconomics and macroeconomics and learn to perform advanced statistical analysis to assess economic data. In the Global Economic Policy track, you will master basic data science competencies and dig deeper into the policy analysis aspect of economics.
Moreover, this program aims to enrich your knowledge of economics with the interdisciplinary style of teaching practiced at CEU to engage critically with the complex challenges of modern economic policymaking. At the end of the program, you will be able to plan, develop and effectively communicate data-driven policy recommendations.
Offered as a specialized one-year MA degree, this full-time program is aimed at students with a 4-year bachelor’s degree and a firm background in economics. You will explore a data-driven dimension of economics as a practice by attending foundational classes focused on causal analysis and mathematics and learning how to apply data science methods in economics.
This program requires students to choose one of the two specialization tracks to narrow the focus of their studies at CEU and develop the skills that will benefit them the most in their future endeavors.
The Research (pre-PhD) track emphasizes quantitative skills and research methods, preparing you for a PhD or technical research jobs in the public and private sectors.
The Global Economic Policy track provides a comprehensive overview of the economy and a deep understanding of the economic policy process. You will engage with the topics in a systematic and analytical way, implementing a data-oriented approach to bridge theory and practice. This track is an entryway to a job in government, international organizations or the private sector.
Students in the Research (pre-PhD) track can expand their expertise with Advanced Certificates - student-only programs that enable you to dive deep into different subject areas through highly specialized training.
You will have the possibility to choose from:
The One-Year Master of Arts in Economics, Data, and Policy program is a fast track to a PhD or a new career for students who have already gained a theoretical knowledge of economics during their graduate studies.
