The Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Sciences and Policy program at CEU is a blend of systematic interdisciplinary education in the context of environmental and policy studies with specialized training in professional skills.
The Environmental Sciences and Policy Department is an established center of excellence in environment-related scholarship and teaching in Europe. Students of this doctoral program pursue meaningful research that addresses some of the most urgent environmental challenges of the 21st century with a focus on producing informed policy recommendations at national, international and transnational levels.
The Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Sciences and Policy is a research-oriented program for students interested in contributing to the existing body of environmental research. You will gain expertise in formulating, designing, conducting and presenting original research projects that tackle contemporary environmental challenges and consider the political, legal, economic and social dimensions of environmental policymaking. During this program, you will develop a thorough understanding of diverse approaches to environmental problems and build extensive project management, communication, professional networking and analytical skills with a commitment and capacity to address environmental challenges.
Graduates of the PhD in Environmental Sciences and Policy program will be ready to search for opportunities in the international academic job market or launch their professional careers in the private or public sectors.
Applicants should have a master’s degree or equivalent in an environment-related field, such as natural or social sciences, engineering, economics, law or management.
