The Bachelor programme in Social and Work Psychology is focused on preparing students for professional careers in areas where a background in psychology is required. Our focus is on main areas of applied psychology (work and organisational, clinical and counselling, school and educational).
Our team includes full-time as well as part-time lecturers and professionals who strive to deliver state-of-heart theoretical and evidence based knowledge as well as practical experience to our students.
The graduate of the study program Social and Work Psychology within the field of Psychology has knowledge in general orientation that focuses on the history, current developments in the field, and an overview of psychological specializations.
The core of knowledge is focused on basic knowledge of theoretical and applied psychological disciplines, which primarily lead to knowledge of the individual and psychological aspects of behaviour and experience within groups and group dynamics:
The student also gains knowledge of the field of psychological assessment, including psychometry and methodology. In addition, the graduate has basic knowledge of other selected areas of humanities, social and behavioural sciences, and knowledge of ethical principles in the performance of psychological and research activities, and the ability to apply these principles.
The graduate has skills in using the psychological methodology, especially interviewing, focus groups, and observation, has mastered the basic principles of assessment and evaluation in basic specializations (clinical psychology, educational psychology, school psychology, counselling psychology, work & organizational psychology). The graduate can design a simple research plan (including an experiment) and implement it, including mainly data collection and subsequent quantitative or qualitative analysis. The graduate can also orient themself in current scientific resources and search for relevant literature in the field, interpret the results of studies, write professional texts and present the assigned tasks, goals, and results/products to the working team.
The graduate is independent in solving specific problems in a changing environment. They can plan their further education, autonomy, and responsibility in decision-making concerning the issues of the study field. They can present their own opinions appropriately and professionally, including creative and flexible thinking. He/she applies in the bachelor's thesis the acquired competence to carry out research using quantitative and qualitative procedures. He/she gained experience in the field at an traineeship in psychology, which enables them to acquire the necessary employability skills and align their expectations with the practice.
The graduate is independent in solving theoretical and practical problems in a broader context. In the professional presentation of their opinion, he/she can effectively use the argumentation strategies of individual thinkers, independently and critically evaluate the arguments. He/she expresses their opinion cultivated in linguistic (oral and written) professional expression. He/she can take positions on individual and social issues and make decisions in the context of value perspectives. He/she ethically and responsibly decides on the study field's moral, social, legal, and economic contexts.
