Choreomundus – Erasmus Mundus Master in Dance and Movement as Practical Knowledge and Heritage, established in 2012 and having recruited nearly 300 students from 80 countries, is a two-year fully joint programme taught principally in English and currently run by a new Consortium of four Partner Universities:

1. Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas, Lithuania;
2. National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece;
3. University of Clermont Auvergne, Clermont-Ferrand, France;
4. University of Roehampton, London, United Kingdom.

It addresses dance, movement and related practices as Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) from the perspectives of Ethnochoreology, the Anthropology of Dance, Sport and Movement, Heritage Studies, Technology for Dance and Sport.

It focuses on fieldwork and engages with movement analysis, motion capture, ethnographic and documentation techniques. Its intercultural and transcultural foundation with a team of international staff and targeted recruitment from all continents contributes to the promotion of culturally sensitive modes of knowledge transmission. It addresses the effects and conditions of displacement and migration in the 21st century through study of people’s traditional performance practices, whether artistic, ritual or sports. To these ends students study in three countries with the option of studying in a fourth non-EU partner.

The programme delivers a fully joint degree with single diploma parchment signed by all four universities and is managed by four joint committees.

Tuition fee:

• No self-funded (tuition-paying) places are available.
• Tuition fee waiver for 30 applicants will be covered by the EU Erasmus+ program funding for the full duration of the programme (valued at €18,000 per person).
• Applicants will be admitted with a tuition fee waiver or scholarship only (will be decided by the committee).

Scholarships:

• 15 scholarship places are available for the 2026-2027 academic year. Each selected applicant will receive a monthly scholarship of €1,400 for the entire 24-month study period.
• No additional application for the scholarship is needed.

Career opportunities:

After graduating from Choreomundus, students have entered a number of fields bringing their expertise to multidisciplinary and socially engaged projects:

• Doctoral studies worldwide.
• Academia, as lecturers, adjunct professors and independent scholars.
• Cultural management, employed fully and part time in public and private institutions and also as consultants.
• Transmission of dance and other corporeal practices, including classes for children, adults.
• Safeguarding and advising on ICH in museums and other public and private institutions.
• Arts in a multiplicity of contexts, such as entertainment, event planning, working as independent artists in different companies, or in transdisciplinary and social projects.
