Description:

The Dual Degree Master of Arts (MA) in Politics is a unique two-year program jointly offered by Central European University (CEU) in Austria and the University of Konstanz in Germany. It is designed for students who wish to combine rigorous academic training in political science with the experience of studying in two internationally recognized institutions.

This integrated program allows students to complete 60 ECTS/30 US degree credits at each partner university and receive two master’s degrees upon successful completion:

  • CEU’s Master of Arts in Politics
  • University of Konstanz’s Master of Arts in Politics and Public Administration

Programme details:

The curriculum offers a strong foundation in political theory, comparative politics, political economy, and research design, while enabling students to specialize in one of three fields at Konstanz:

  • International Relations
  • Comparative Politics & Policy
  • Analysis Management & Public Administration

Students benefit from small, interactive classes; close faculty mentorship, and strong integration of research and teaching. The program culminates with a master’s thesis, jointly supervised by faculty from both universities, ensuring a truly collaborative and international academic experience.

Graduates emerge with a global perspective, advanced methodological skills and a professional profile that is highly attractive to employers in academia, government, international organizations and the private sector.

Program Partner - University of Konstanz:

Located on the shores of Lake Constance in southern Germany, the University of Konstanz is one of Germany’s leading research universities, consistently ranked among the country’s top institutions. Its Department of Politics and Public Administration is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, cutting-edge research in comparative politics, public policy and international relations, and strong links to international research networks.

How the Double Degree MA in Politics Works:

  • Structure: Students spend one academic year (60 ECTS/30 US degree credits) at CEU and one academic year (60 ECTS/30 US degree credits) at Konstanz. This dual degree program operates on a student exchange model: students first apply to the MA in Politics program at CEU and, during their first year, may apply for the opportunity to study at Konstanz in their second year. Upon successful completion of the requirements of both programs, they receive diplomas from both universities.
  • Enrollment: Students are enrolled at both institutions throughout the program and receive full student privileges at both universities.
  • Tuition: Students pay tuition only at their home university (the one where they spend the first year) and are exempt from tuition fees at the host university, paying only small administrative and student service fees.
  • Language of Instruction: All courses are taught in English.
  • Support: Both CEU and Konstanz provide visa assistance, housing guidance, access to libraries, student services, sports facilities, and health services.
