Are you interested in designing advanced electronics using new materials or communications technologies for the next generation? Do you have strong mathematical skills?
By studying bachelor’s and master’s in Electronics and Communications Engineering in Oulu, you gain access to a global tech network, hands-on experience in some of the world’s most advanced fields, and the opportunity to contribute to the future of technology in a city at the forefront of digital innovation.
Studying Electronics and Communications Engineering combines theoretical and practical approach in development of electronics components, measurement technologies and applications for various areas in ICT technology as well as all aspects of communications engineering.
The University of Oulu is a well-known and respected institution where ground-breaking research is done across the board. For example, the University of Oulu is the home of 6G Flagship, a comprehensive, multi-year research project into the wireless communication technologies of the future. The university has spun off many startups and established companies which have based their core expertise on research done at the university.
Teaching is based on state-of-the-art research by distinguished professors with years of experience in the field.
At the University of Oulu, you can enjoy excellent facilities. We have one of the few Super Fab Labs in the world where anyone can design, quick-prototype, and fabricate their own products and hardware. Super Fab Lab Oulu complies with an open innovation concept developed by the MIT in the United States.
You can practise your skills in technology development elsewhere on the campus, since we have cutting-edge technology test beds available, such as the 6G Test Network, SmartCampus and Printed Intelligence.
The emphasis of bachelor’s studies is on mathematics, physics and signal processing, as well as professional courses in electronics design, computer engineering and programming, measurement techniques, electronics components and materials and telecommunications.
The studies are scheduled to build professional competence from the first year of studies onwards.
After bachelor studies, the student can focus either on Electronics Design, Electronics Materials and Components, Future Electronics and Measurement Techniques, Telecommunication or Radio Engineering.
In addition to the chosen major, the studies usually include a rather large set of studies in another field mentioned above.
The combination of creativity and technology is a powerful recipe for making an impact on the world.
A degree from the University of Oulu is regarded highly, which is evidenced by the continued and intense recruiting interest from industry i.e. corporations, small and medium-sized companies and startups.
